Skyboxes are textures that fill the black void-like background with an animation, mostly used for FPS and other maps that would require a custom-angled camera. This page will show examples of the included Skybox textures and an easy way to set them on your map. Keep in mind that some Skyboxes are finicky and only work at certain angles.

Setting a Map's Skybox (Data)

Giving your map a Skybox using the Data editor is very simple.

  1. Open your Data editor under Modules > Data (or hotkey F7).
  2. Under the "Data Type:" dropdown, select "Terrain Texture Sets."
  3. Select the terrain type you are using (i.e. Korhal, Tarsonis, etc.).
  4. Now find "Background Model (Fixed)."
  5. Either double-click to edit it or find the texture in the dropdown, based on whatever Skybox texture you wish to use (see the below list for reference).
  6. Save and enjoy!

Setting a Map's Skybox (Triggers)

Giving your map a Skybox using the Data editor is also simple, though I've had more issues with it this way.

  1. Create a new Action.
  2. Under "Environment," select "Set Background Model."
  3. Change the model to whatever SkyBox texture you wish to use (see the below list for reference).
  4. Save and enjoy!
