Toyota Motor Corporation is a multinational corporation headquartered in Toyota City, Japan, and one of the world's major producers of passenger cars. Toyota is the world's largest automaker by sales, and is the second largest automaker in the United States by sales. Toyota also owns the Lexus and Scion brands, and has a majority shareholding stake in Daihatsu and Hino Motors. Toyota has also taken minority stakes in Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru) and Isuzu Motors.

Toyota produces 6 passenger car lines for the American market: the Prius, the Corolla, the Camry, the Yaris, the Avalon, and the Avensis. The Toyota Prius is a hybrid mid-size car that features a 1.8 liter gas hybrid engine. The Prius is the best-selling hybrid automobile in the world, and is a showcase for the Toyota technology. The Corolla is a subcompact four door sedan that is assembled in both Japan and Canada, and is one of the best-selling compact cars in the United States. The Corolla has been sold in the United States since 1968, and has featured ecomical, reliable four cylinder engines in each of the vehicle itinerations. The Camry is the the best-selling passenger car in the United States, and is a mid-sized vehicle that can be ordered as either a two door coupe or four door sedan. The Camry featured four cylinder engines in its earlier generations, and over the last decade the Camry has been offered with both four cylinder and six cylinder engines. The Yaris is a subcompact two or four door vehicle that is produced in Japan and sold in the United States as Toyota's least expensive model. The Yaris comes with only one engine, a 1.5 liter four cylinder engine. The Yaris is Toyota's most fuel efficient non-hybrid model sold in the United States. The Avalon is Toyota's largest passenger car sold in the United States sold under the Toyota brand, and comes standard with a six cylinder engine, anti-lock brakes, air conditioning, and stability control. The Avensis can be ordered with either four cylinder or six cylinder engines, and is assembled in the United States.
