The Museum of Tolerance (MOT) is targeted on issues of tolerance, rights and diversity. The Museum aims to face and promote a discussion on these problems in a hands-on fun manner. To construct upon it preliminary achievement the MOT focused to reposition the Museum from an experiential understanding center into a cultural middle for the Westside of Los Angeles. Developed in two levels – the first completed phase targets the interior areas of the Museum while the 2nd stage, happening, grows the Museum.
The $8 million renovation involves around 34,450 sf of improvements for the Museum. Key the different parts of the renovation include: show spots, two theaters, a children's multi-functional learning middle and multi-purpose rooms. On the ground floor, the Peltz Theater was renovated to supply the MOT with a contemporary movie place that could serve the Memorial internally, furthermore provides for the Memorial to produce income through rentals and individual screenings.
The 300-seat movie has custom designed seating by Poltrona Frau and includes a state-of-the-art Integrated Iosono custom speakers which generates a 3-dimensional array of sound. The LED lighting process creates multiple lighting outcomes and scenarios and may be programmed to check the sound.
The show level comes with an entire new access with a donor wall, and lobby to the Wosk Testing Theater. This small testing space has 36-seats, the design shaped from a curvilinear inside wall, employs the prevailing surfaces as a foundation to accomplish a more detailed architectural gesture. All A/V, physical and illumination fittings were integrated and hidden in the custom fabricated felt strip wall (by Thought Studio) to avoid any aesthetic obstruction.

The felt wall gives the room with a distinct aesthetic identity and allows for high noise assimilation which the room requires. Moreover further renovations on the display level contain new reveals such as a twisting record wall, new installations and showcases for museum artifacts.
On the 2nd floor, the range of function included updating places to create a modern source middle for children and different memorial groups. The brand new spots include a children's multipurpose region which characteristics some big, backlight, pivoting media walls – made with Panelite and 3form panels. The super-graphic wall highlights images of leaders of tolerance, variety and individual rights issues. On the opposite area, quotes from different leaders of those issues are displayed. The pivoting walls permit a number of designs to support the varying measurement of groups touring the Museum. More over, two classrooms were up-to-date with new engineering and design and a 24-seat watching room was also designed. Two new exhibits were also developed showing the crusade of Anne Frank.

Phase Two, that is presently in style, is just a $33-million, 20,800 sf expansion, that'll feature a modern style that offers the massing of the form to make a gradual change to the bordering simple family homes. The look may also target their attention on the west façade of the making, replacing the existing white granite with a recently developed façade attaching together current and new construction. To increase understanding of the rethinking of the museum big developing signage will be integrated into a concrete panel program that'll create a delicate, sophisticated concept while not being obstructive to the public.
To make a more inviting and start entry, and to develop a further aesthetic connection to the surface the look, the reception, bookstore and atrium may all be redesigned. The reception may dual high place and there would have been a bodily connection from the reception to the newly designed 2nd ground children's region (with the media wall) via a new figural staircase. The present bookstore will soon be eliminated and will soon be changed with a larger store that accommodates the museum's needs. The entry sequence and structure will create a greater feeling of flow from initial entry, through ticketing, security and into the other regions of the building.

Furthermore, apparent glass storefronts is going to be logically utilized to improve awareness and natural mild in the space. The 2nd ground café and home will undoubtedly be renovated and expanded to create a new destination within the museum – providing a needed support for patrons. The design is successfully connected to the initial and next floors of the museum. The materials can get an expression of vibrancy and youthfulness supporting to make a relaxed atmosphere.
Most significantly may be the 4,000sf expansion of the next ground which will produce a multipurpose space and national resource middle which is employed for a variety of operates and events – this may replace the present Memorial Backyard positioned on the floor floor and develop an enclosed place that will resemble an outdoor space. To do this, the style can employ the maximum amount of natural mild that you can – but by taking advantage of building overhangs and trellises, the organic mild is going to be filtered. Last but most certainly not least, the last ground should go through about 7,000sf of tenant improvements – we will change the prevailing floor in to an executive discussion center with a primary panel room and smaller convention areas with a high tech A/V system – to make a creatively clean and distinguished architectural appearance with a high level of elegance and quality.
