In order to make a building completely stackable, you have to modify the footprint of that building. In this tutorial, we'll make stackable cannons just like they were in StarCraft, but without the fuss of turning vision on and off.

  1. Open up the Data Editor (F7) and under "Data Type:" select "Footprints."
  2. Select "Footprint 2x2." In the box on the right, find "Layers +" and double-click on the space to the right of it to open an "Object Values" window.
    1. From the "Layer:" dropdown, select "Pathing." Under "Value," click the "None" button.
    2. Now select "Placement Apply" from the "Layers:" dropdown. Click each of the purple squares shown in the preview at the center of the window to make them change to dark gray. Now click the "Define Sets" button to open a new window. Uncheck all the boxes in this window, and then click "OK."
    3. Now select "Placement Check" from the "Layers:" dropdown. As we did in the previous step, click each of the purple squares shown in the preview at the center of the window to make them change to dark gray. Now click the "Define Sets" button to open a new window. Uncheck all the boxes in this window, and then click "OK." Click "OK" again to close the "Object Values" window.
  3. Select "Footprint 2x2 (Contour)" from the list of Footprints. In the box on the right, find "Layers +" and double-click on the space to the right of it to open an "Object Values" window.
  4. Next change the "Data Type:" to "Units" and select "Photon Cannon" from the list.
  5. In the box on the right, find "Movement - Collide" and double-click on the space to the right of it to open an "Object Values" window. Uncheck everything under "Collide" and click "OK" to close the window.
  6. You can now build Photon Cannons on top of anything, and more importantly on top of other Photon Cannons.
